Description:

All frames of the .44 Double Action First Model Revolver were manufactured between 1881 and 1898, but were listed in the company catalogs and sold up until 1913. The accompanying factory letter lists this revolver with a 6 1/2 inch barrel, blue finish, and checkered black hard rubber grips when is was shipped on September 9, 1894 and delivered to Markt & Co., New York City and Hamburg, Germany. This shipment contained 10 units of this model in the same configuration and they were billed at the wholesale price of $14.50. The frame, barrel and cylinder are stamped with British proofs. Matching serial numbers are on the butt, right grip panel, cylinder, barrel, and barrel latch. Comes with a period leather bound fitted carrying case. The interior of the lid has a 1908 dated German pistol and revolver sporting club dedication to the club's chairman Dr. Julius Furst: "WIDMUNG/von/Dr. Julius Furst/Obmann der Pistolen und Revolver-Section/des Wr. Schutzenverein/1908."

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retaining well over 90% original blue finish with the grip straps and trigger guard thinning to a brown. The front sight has been altered during is time of use. 95% original case colors remain on the hammer and trigger. The grips are excellent with minimal handling marks and crisp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent. The case is very good with minor wear overall. Most of the presentation inscription remains readable. Provenance: Dr. Gerald Klaz collection.
