Description:

Introduced in 1878. The rare, non-standard 5 inch barrel has the one-line address on the rib and "44 S&W CTG" on the left side. Caliber marked New Model No. 3s are rarely encountered, and the standard barrel length was 6 1/2 inches. The barrel latch is unnumbered. Matching serial numbers are on the butt, cylinder and barrel.

Rating Definition:

Fine, retaining 70% original blue finish thinning to brown and high edge wear. The grip straps are mostly a smooth brown-gray patina mixed with blue, and the back strap has a collection type number. 50% original case colors remain on the hammer and trigger guard. The grips are also fine with some typical hairline age cracks at the bottom, some minor handling marks and attractive grain and color. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: Dr. Gerald Klaz collection.
