The New Model 3 dominated target competitions in the late 1800s, and are found in the serial number range below 4,333. Of the 4,333 target variations manufactured, only 1,413 were chambered in .38-44 caliber. It has target sights, two-line rib marking ending with the reissue patent date, and matching serial numbers on the butt, right grip frame, cylinder, barrel and barrel latch.

Rating Definition:

Fine, retaining 60% original blue finish with the balance mostly a smooth brown patina. The grip straps have a smooth gray patina. There are a series of tool-like marks around the trigger guard at the rear. 40% original case colors remain on the hammer and trigger guard. The grips are good with a repaired right panel, some minor handling marks and a few blemishes in the checkering. Mechanically excellent.
