Description:

20,000 of these revolvers were manufactured in 1861 and 1862. Of these, 12,000 were ordered by the U.S. government making examples like this without U.S. markings comparatively rare. It has the standard "SAVAGE R.F.A. CO. MIDDLETOWN, CT/H.S. NORTH PATENTED JUNE 17 1856/JANUARY 13, 1859 MAY 15 1860" marking on top of the frame, and matching serial numbers on the grips.

Rating Definition:

Very good with 20% of original blue finish mainly on the loading lever housing, mix of gray and brown patinas on the balance, minor dings and scratches on the wood and metal, some oxidation and light pitting, and tiny chips at the toe of the otherwise fine grips. Mechanically fine.
