Manufactured in 1887. Blue, Crolle pattern, dovetail lump Damascus steel barrels with smooth concave rib marked "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A", chambers measured at 2 3/4 inches with single extractor, modified/modified chokes, and standard markings on the flats. Casehardened box lock action with "PATENTED./AUG 22 SEP 19 1882" marked on the underside in fancy decorative font, doll's head rib extension, dual triggers, and automatic sliding tang safety. The receiver is engraved with flowing American scroll patterns with game bird and hunting dog scenes on the sides of a pointer and quail on the right, and a setter and woodcock on the left. The trigger guard and tangs are engraved to match with a single duck in flight at the center of the guard. Checkered walnut straight grip stock and forearm with engraved fittings, and checkered, hard rubber, Rampant Colt buttplate. Barrel and stock measurements are: bore diameter at 9 inches from breech .735/.738; choke constriction .021/.023; minimum wall thickness .024/.024; drop at comb 1 1/4 inches; drop at heel 1 3/4 inches; length of pull 14 1/4 inches.

Very fine as professionally restored with strong, distinct restored Damascus patterns on the barrels, some small dings, on the rib, and clear markings. The receiver has shadows of original case colors, gray patina on the balance, some patches of darker spotting and light surface pitting, and well defined engraving. The exceptional quality replacement wood is also very fine with sharp checkering, rich color, some small dings, and modern reproduction buttplate. Mechanically excellent.
