Description:

Made by Enoch Drabble of Sheffield, England c. 1830s. Overall length is 11 1/8 inches and the clip point blade is 7 5/8 inches. The usual Drabble markings appear to have been polished away. The German silver guard shows the typical style of Drabble knives, being elliptical in shape with a ball at each end. The handle is one piece and carved with grip grooves and pommel flutes as typical of Enoch Drabble knives. Includes a leather sheath with German silver furniture. A very similar knife is pictured on p. 26 of "Classic Bowie Knives" by Robert Abels.

Rating Definition:

Very good, showing mostly a bright silver patina speckled with some darker grey patina and a few scattered patches of light pitting. Moderate sharpening and cleaning evidence. The fine grip has some light handling marks, a few age related hairline cracks, and the German silver escutcheon is absent. The sheath is good with moderate wear and cracking and dark patina on the German silver.
