With blacked barrels respectively signed “JOSEPH LANG & SONS” and “22 COCKSPUR STREET, PALL MALL, LONDON” on the tubes and raised file cut matted rib with ramp-mounted bead front sight, rear sight of one standing and two folding leaves each with platinum inlaid center line and graduated to “250” yards, and doll’s head extension. Action with carved percussion fences and back action non-rebounding locks each with safety catch, the locks each signed “JOSEPH LANG & SONS”. The action features three grips as well as the doll’s head extension, and the rotary underlever is sprung. The underside of the barrels and the action flats struck with London black powder proof marks. Well figured walnut pistol grip stock with checkered grip and long forearm with lever latch, the underside of the butt with blank initial escutcheon. The action, locks and mounts all with border and scroll engraving, the butt plate with a checkered panel.

The barrels originally browned damascus with later blacked finish, some wear to the signatures and rib matting, scattered corrosion marks visible beneath the finish. The action, locks and mounts are a grey patina with some further scattered minor corrosion spot marks, the engraving is clear throughout. The stock has been refinished with well defined checkering and minor scattered age related storage and handling marks. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: The Malcolm King Collection.
