Manufactured in circa 1958 and subsequently professionally engraved and gold inlaid. The action has also been converted to a lever action. Much in the style, possibly copied from a Browning prototype writer catalogued a quarter century ago! The muzzle and breech ends of the barrel, magazine rings, forend cap, receiver, lever and hammer sides have been very nicely engraved with floral scroll and punch dot designs with gold inlaid bordering and accents. In addition there is a prairie scene with two gold inlaid prairie dogs and a silver background on the left side of the receiver and three gold inlaid rabbits in a forest scene with a silver background on the right side. The front edge of scene is signed "L. SHERMAN". Standard left side rear barrel markings with the addition of three British proof marks in the same area, as well as a British "crown/BNP" proof mark on the underside of the receiver below the serial number and on the underside of the barrel at the muzzle end. Mounted with an extra fancy walnut forearm and straight grip stock with floral vine and punch dot carving on the forearm and wrist, and checkering also on the wrist. Fitted with a flat checkered steel buttplate.

Very fine as elaborately custom embellished and professionally converted to lever action configuration with all of the blue finish and gold inlay remaining. There are a few small areas where some very minor pitting can be seen under the finish. The wood is very good as refinished and embellished, showing a few minor dents and dings, most prevalent on the top edge of the forearm. The engraving and markings remain crisp and clear. The action functions well. At the very least a very interesting and quite possibly a one of a kind lever action Model 62A rifle.
