Description:

This sword was sold through firm of Henry Sauerbier of Newark, New Jersey, and has an approximately 32 inch curved blade with etched scroll and "U.S." designs along the blade, "H Sauerbier/Newark/NJ" on the left, and "IRON PROOF" on the spine. The brass hilt has floral patterns. The grip has leather and brass wire wrap. The scabbard is steel.

Rating Definition:

Very good with light patina and spotting on the polished blade, some minor nicks and edge wear, deep aged patina on the hilt, moderate wear on the grip, dark brown patina and some oxidation/pitting on the scabbard along with traces of gold. An attractive aged but well-maintained 19th century sword overall.
