Description:

36 inch curved blade marked "US/JH" on the right ricasso and "N.P. AMES/CABOTVILLE/1845" on the left ricasso, brass hilt, wire wrapped grip, and steel scabbard. "MW" is hand marked on the left side of the guard. The Model 1840, "Old Wristbreaker," was one of the main swords of both the Mexican-American War and the Civil War.

Rating Definition:

Good with light mottled gray patina and spotting along the blade, aged patina on the hilt, mild age related wear on the grip, dark mottled brown patina and some minor dents on the scabbard, and a very attractive honest aged look throughout.
