Description:

The included factory letter confirms the serial number, caliber, barrel length, blue finish, stocks as "Not Listed", and that the revolver was sold to "State of California" and shipped to Phil B. Bekeart Co. of San Francisco, California on September 16, 1931 as a single gun shipment. The letter also notes that the revolver was returned and subsequently delivered to Tufts-Lyon Arms Co. of Los Angeles, by Phil Bekeart Co. on November 25,1931. Phil Bekeart was Colt's Pacific Coast Representative at the time. Also included is a July 14, 1993 dated letter from DeForrest Home referencing the revolver by serial number as having been the property of Bill Clark. Clark was the youngest surviving son of copper baron and Montana Senator William Andrews Clark Sr. William Clark Jr. was a well known philanthropist and book collector, having funded the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and later bequeathing his extensive library of rare books and manuscripts the William Andrews Clark Memorial Library, to the University of California at Los Angeles. Adjustable Patridge blade front and windage adjustable rear notch sights, standard barrel markings, matching serial numbers, and checkered grips with carved "BC" monogram on the left, and carved oak leaf on the right.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 95% plus original blue finish, some areas of mild edge wear, slight cylinder drag line, and some small surface scratches. The grips are very good as period customized with sharp checkering and numerous small dings. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: The John Fox Collection.
