Description:

Manufactured in 1938. Blade front and folding ladder rear sights (with 2,850 yard volley notch), "SA/3-39" barrel, and a Redfield peep sight installed on the receiver. The "star" air gauge proof is struck twice on the muzzle. The bolt is "NS" marked on the handle, with the top of the handguard stamped "D2879" and the belly of the buttstock "D1838". The forearm could not be dismounted, but the included Stormy Mountain Sports sales receipt states a description of a star gauge records number "A2237" is present on top of the barrel. The stock is otherwise unmarked with a small white diamond inlay in the bottom of the pistol grip and a sharp checkered steel buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very good, with 30% of the thin parkerized finish, showing areas of gray patina, bright edge wear, and mild spotting and handling marks overall. The bolt has turned a dull gray, with a rough texture overall. The reoiled stock is also very good, with some dark staining around the metal fittings on the handguard, which is split near the front barrel band, white specks on the buttstock, and a number of dings and scuffs overall. The safety is a bit stiff, otherwise mechanically fine.
