Description:

This WWII Remington Arms Model 1903 rifle was produced in December 1942. Remington Arms started manufacturing these early WWII 1903s rifle in May 1941 for Great Britain using the old tooling and machinery from Rock Island Arsenal. After Pearl Harbor, they were held at Remington and issued to both USMC and Army units heading into the Pacific Theater where they saw extensive use. This example is termed a 1903 (Modified) model because it used various wartime manufacturing improvements or shortcuts to speed up production. The barrel is stamped "RA/Ordnance Bomb/12-42". The receiver is marked: "REMINGTON MODEL/1903/3313067" and is partially milled for the 03A3 rear sight on the bridge. The rifle has a mix of both early and late features with a blued stamped lower band, replacement 03-A3 blued trigger guard and floorplate, milled front band and stacking swivel, blued, milled follower, "R" marked rear ladder sight without lightening grooves or volley notch, full blue, and "R" marked bolt with correct "R" marked components Fitted with a smooth straight grips stock without reinforcing bolts (however two small brass pins are visible in the area where the bolts would be) with sub-inspection stamps ahead of the floorplate, circled "P" on the inside of the wrist, "crossed cannons" and "FJA" marks on the left side, and checkered steel trapdoor buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 95% original green parkerized finish on barrel and receiver, some surface scratches and edge wear, and light spotting. The bolt has 80% original blue finish with bright cycling marks on the body. The stock is very fine with numerous small dings and dents, visible inspection and acceptance marks, and mild edge wear on the buttplate. Mechanically excellent.
