Description:

This is an excellent example of a WWII era Harrington & Richardson Reising Model 50 fully 45 ACP submachine gun. These weapons saw limited used with the United States Marines in the Pacific as a substitute for the M1 Thompson. However, they were more widely used as defensive weapons for war-essential industries and law enforcement agencies. The top of the receiver has the three-line Harrington & Richardson factory markings, with the fire control and serial number on the rear right side. The barrel is fitted with a combination flash hider/muzzle break with cooling fins on the barrel. It has a blade front and a stamped, sheet metal adjustable rear sight, with the cocking lever on the underside of the forend. The breech end of the barrel is stamped with "P" indicating the barrel was proofed fired after assembly. It is fitted with a one-piece walnut buttstock with a smooth sheet metal buttplate. This weapon includes two original Reising Model 50 20 round stick magazines, a reproduction web sling, and the very scarce Police storage case. These storage cases were intended for the local Police and Sheriff to store the weapon, magazine and accessories in the trunk of their patrol cars to use when out in the field. A scarce item seldom found today. It has an all blued metal finish with a case hardened selector switch.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 95% plus of the blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear with the bolt still in the white from the factory. The very fine stock shows only minor handling marks on the sides of the butt in a couple places with a small area of roughness on the left side where the wood meets the edge of the receiver. The case is very fine condition with most of its black painted type exterior finish which has been repainted/touched up. NOTE: This item is restricted as a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) that is classified as a "Curios or Relic" as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11. These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
