Description:

This is a very good example of an early small ring Model 1896 Mauser pistol with the short chamber area. The side is marked WAFFENFABRIK/MAUSER/OBERNDORF A/N" on top of the chamber, "Crown/U" and serial number on the left side flats and antler proof on the right side. The right side rear frame is marked "WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER/OBERNDORF A NECKAR". Fixed front sight and adjustable rear sight graduated to 1000 meters. "Crown/U" on top of the bolt as well as the partial serial number "313". Grips are hard rubber molded with vine and leaf pattern and winged man with a gun and knife attacking a lion.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The pistol retains 50% of the original finish with thinning, wear and light pitting on the barrel, wear on the front of the frame and high edges. Overall scattered minor scattered spotting and pitting. 60% of the original nitre blue on the rear sight bar. The grips are very good showing little wear and a few scattered minor scuffs and dings. Markings are clear, the action is fine.
