Description:

U.S. inspection marks "E" and "P" are on the barrel, "W" on the top of the frame under the cylinder, and "W" and "P" on the rear cylinder face. The butt is stamped with the serial number and "US." The left grip panel has a script "JRJr." cartouche and the date "1876." The right grip has a script "CW" cartouche. Matching serial numbers are on the butt, right grip panel and cylinder. Many Schofield revolvers were issued to the 4th Cavalry which saw service in the Geronimo Campaign and the famous 9th and 10th U.S. Cavalries comprised of the "Buffalo Soldiers" stationed in the American Southwest.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The frame retains 50% original blue finish, the barrel retains traces of original blue finish and the cylinder retains 40% original blue finish with the barrel a smooth brown patina. 30% original case colors remain on the trigger guard, and 70% original case colors remain on the hammer. The grips are also fine with numerous minor dings and scratches and legible cartouches. Mechanically excellent.
