With the exception of the red-filled dot in the "fire" position beneath the safety switch on the later production slide and a few internal components, this pistol shows a full gold finish, with fine oak leaf professional engraving and textured backgrounds over 90% of the surface. The standard 1940s commercial markings are present on the frame, with a matching external serial number set among the oak leaves on the slide. The grips are checkered plastic with Walther banners and "MADE IN GERMANY" on the bottom left, and the magazine is finished in gold with a checkerboard engraved flat base magazine. Included with the pistol is a blue leatherette presentation case, with a French-cut red velvet interior with space for the pistol and an extra magazine (not included) and a pillow-top lid with a silver printed Walther banner. While the original buyer is unknown, the recipients of these wartime engraved pistols were typically the elite of the Nazi Party or the military.

Very fine as professionally embellished/assembled, with 98% plus fine gold finish, showing some minor edge wear and handling marks. The grips show a few dings and dark spots on the otherwise crisp checkering. The case is very good, with minor wear and stains. The decocker needs adjustment, otherwise mechanically fine.
