Manufactured in 1965/66. This pistol was the property of Brigadier General Erik H. Nelson. Nelson was one of four pilots in a flight around the world from April 6 to September 28, 1924, only two of the original four completed the flight, a feat that earned him a Distinguished Flying Cross. Nelson served in both World Wars and helped with getting the first B-29s into service. He also received the decorations of France's Legion of Honor and Sweden's Royal Order of the Sword. The pistol has the rare combination of black finish with pearlite grips and has silver markings on the frame. Includes 11 inert, .49 inch Gyrojet cartridges (per consignor research) as well as a factory display case inscribed to Nelson.

Rating Definition:

Excellent overall, retaining 97% plus original black finish, light handling evidence, and some high edge wear. The case is very fine and the nickel cartridges are frosted but very good. Mechanically excellent.
