Both included factory letters confirm the current configuration, including the special features, when it was shipped to Ed Faust of Pacific International Merchandising Corp. on July 24, 1974 (per the 2019 letter) and May 24, 1974 (per the 1974 letter). The revolver was a prize awarded to Faust at the 1974 NSGA show in Houston, TX. The older of the two letters is addressed to Faust himself and dated October 8, 1974. The hand honing of the action was performed by Colt Master Gunsmith Don Tedford and was engraved with Faust's initials ("ELF") in gold on the trigger guard. Faust is known for his creation of the three inch "California Combat Python" from 250 of Colt's eight inch, 38 Special, Pythons that were not selling well. Includes a Colt display case and shipping box addressed to Faust.

Excellent overall, retaining 99% plus original blue, minor handling evidence, faint cylinder drag line, and sharp grip checkering. Mechanically excellent. The case and box are also excellent.
