Manufactured from 1865 to 1868. This revolver features a wonderful period New York near full coverage engraving and an unheard of two panel scenes plus two figures inhabiting the scrolls! Most of the engraving consists of floral scrollwork on a stippled background. Among the scroll pattern on the barrel is an eagle on the left side and a mythical beast head on the right side. Engraved panel scenes surrounded by scrollwork are featured on both sides of the frame: a deer on the left side and two game birds on the right side. The barrel and the back strap also have engraved geometric patterns. The gold plated cylinder has an engraved broad scrollwork pattern on a stippled background. The barrel has a gold inlaid band at the muzzle. Matching assembly numbers are on the grip frame, cylinder and barrel. Comes with a period deluxe silver-bound fitted case featuring royal purple velvet lining and German silver corner protectors, blank inscription plate and lock escutcheon and containing a bore rod and cartridge block holding a full count of 45 rounds.

Very fine as period embellished, retaining 90% original blue finish mixed with some thinning to brown and areas of smooth-brown gray patina mostly on the back strap and underside of frame. 97% original gold plating remains on the cylinder. The engraving is crisp. 97% original case colors remain on the hammer. The grips are excellent showing minimal handling marks and high attractive fiery colors. Mechanically excellent. The case is fine with minor handling/storage marks and typical high spot wear on the lining.
