This rifle was manufactured in 1893 with the desirable casehardened forend cap, frame, and rifle buttplate and also features a beaded blade front sight, the two-line address on top of the barrel, an adjustable sporting rear sight, "38-56 W.C.F." on top at the breech, "-Model 1886-" on the upper tang, the serial number on the lower tang, and smooth walnut stock and forearm.

Fine with 60% of the lightly fading original blue finish, nearly all of the original blue on the bolt, 50% original blue on the loading gate, 40% of the original case colors on the frame and forend cap, particularly strong original case colors on the upper tang and left side of the frame, some patches of speckled patina on the frame, mostly gray and brown patina on the lever and buttplate, and minor age and handling related wear throughout. The refinished wood is also fine and has some minor scrapes and pressure marks. Mechanically excellent.
