Description:

This is a standard "Pocket Model of Naval Caliber" aka "Model 1862 Pocket Navy" revolver, but it is far from standard in its overall condition. This revolver is easily one of the highest condition examples of this model. It has a brass cone front sight, "ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA" on the top of the barrel, standard stagecoach scene and patent markings, "J" and "36 CAL" on the left side of the barrel, and matching serial numbers on the barrel, wedge, arbor pin, cylinder/frame, trigger guard, back strap, and in the back strap mortise of the grip which has a high gloss piano varnish finish.

Rating Definition:

Exceptionally fine with 85% plus original high polish blue finish on the barrel, /80% original case colors, 97% plus original silver plating which has attractive aged patina, and 50% original blue finish on the cylinder concentrated in the rear portion. The grip is excellent and has essentially all of the original glossy finish, very minor edge wear, and a few small pressure marks. Mechanically excellent. This revolver has aged beautifully and would be an excellent piece for any Colt collection.
