Description:

The Model 1851 Navy was the second most widely used Colt percussion revolver and was widely used during the Civil War both as government issued arms and privately purchased or presented sidearms. This revolver was manufactured in 1862 and has the "I" marking by the main serial number locations indicating the grip was specially fitted at the factory, just the thing to make your revolver stand out from the rest. It has a brass cone front sight, "-ADDRESS COL SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA-" on the top of the barrel, the standard Naval Battle of Campeche roll scene and patent markings, a "2" on the left side of the trigger guard bow, and matching serial numbers on the loading lever, wedge, barrel, cylinder, arbor pin, frame, trigger guard, and back strap. The case contains a military themed powder flask, cap tin, bullets, and "COLT'S/PATENT" and "36B" marked dual cavity bullet mold.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 40% of the very slightly fading original silver plating, 50% plus original blue (concentrated on the barrel), traces of original case colors, mottled gray and brown patina on the balance, minor oxidation, and general mild wear throughout. The grip is very fine and has attractive natural variations in grain and color, some minor age cracks, a few small chips on the right, and mild age related wear. Mechanically fine. The relined case and accessories are very good with mild wear including some small dents. Overall, a very attractive Civil War era Colt Model 1851 Navy.
