Manufactured from 1870 to 1888, it is the last variation to show sequential serial numbering. This example falls in a period of transition between the Type I and Type II derringers. The two-line address on the barrel rib is "E REMINGTON & SONS ILION. N.Y./ELLIOTS PATENT DEC. 12th 1865" and the serial number is marked under the left grip and on the bottom of the barrel. The frame and barrels show floral scroll engraving coverage which also extends onto the hammer.

Very good, retains 20% original blue finish in sheltered areas and the bottom of the barrel with the balance showing a smooth grey patina with some light pitting at the muzzle and overall crisp engraving. There is a hairline crack visible in the left lower side of the barrel hinge. The attractively aged grips are fine with a few age related hairline stress cracks. Mechanically fine.
