Colt's Second Model Derringer was based on the design first manufactured by Moore Patent Firearms Co. and then the National Arms Co. before it was purchased by Colt in 1870. They were manufactured until 1890. Colt advertised this model as the "National Deringer." This example has flourishes of scroll engraving on the sides of the frame and behind the hammer and a small burst pattern at the breech. The markings and other features are standard aside from the British proofs on the bottom of the barrel.

Very good plus. There are traces of bright, original, high polish blue finish, but the metal mostly displays gray patina and has some minor pitting and oxidation. The grips are very fine with crisp checkering and minor handling and storage marks. The action functions but trigger return spring does not operate. The markings and engraving patterns are crisp.
