Description:

Offered here is a variation of Merwin, Hulbert & Co's medium frame double action revolver manufactured exclusively by Hopkins & Allen in the 1880s. Total production is estimated at a few thousand with .32 caliber being rarer than its .38 caliber counterpart. Adding to the rarity is the factory engraving which consists of floral and dot motifs and a running stag panel scene on the left side plate and .38 caliber frame carrying a 7-shot .32 caliber cylinder. The left side of the frame is stamped "32 CAL 7 SHOT," and the barrel rib has the two-line Merwin, Hulbert & Co. address/patent dates marking. "376" is on the folding hammer spur, "1199" is on the right grip panel, assembly number "1284" is on the left side of the grip frame, and matching serial numbers ("13359") are found on the butt, barrel lug and cylinder. This revolver is pictured in Art Phelps' "The Story of Merwin, Hulbert & Co. Firearms" on page 41.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retaining 75% original nickel finish with the cylinder mostly a smooth gray patina. 50% of the original case colors remain on the hammer. The grips are fine with crisp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent.
