The consignor indicated this rifle was built by Judson Brennan in Michigan prior to his move to Alaska in 1985. Rifles by "Jud" are among the most desirable contemporary American muzzle loaders. It has a brass blade front sight, notch rear sight, "J Brennan" signed on top of the barrel, adjustable double set triggers, Siler lock, engraved borders along with floral and crosshatch engraving, beautiful raised relief carving and flame figure on the stock and patch box lid, and German style sling swivel and stud.
Very fine overall as custom made with 95% plus of the antique brown finish along the barrel which has minor fading at the edges, dark gray/brown "patina" on the lock, aged patina on the brass, crisp carving and engraving, mild strike wear on the frizzen, some small chips at the edges of the forend and nose of the lock (adds to the antique look), and a few mild dings and scratches on the metal and wood. Mechanically excellent.
