This rifle was manufactured in 1886 and features an interesting mix of special order finishes and components; The octagon to round barrel is blued and is outfitted with a "Rocky Mountain" style blade front sight and adjustable sporting rear sight and has the standard patent and caliber markings. The two-piece pump handle is checkered hard rubber and is embossed with the Rampant Colt trademark which is also stamped on the left side of the frame. The magazine tube, action, and buttplate are nickel plated. The stock has a high polish varnished finish.

Very fine. 90% plus of the original combination blue and nickel plated finish remains. The nickel is frosted in most of the exposed areas and remains bright in the protected areas. Niter blue remains visible on the screws. The markings are distinct. The hard rubber pump handle has an attractive aged "chocolate" tone, distinct checkering and Rampant Colt trademark, and light wear. The stock has strong original varnish and a few minor handling and numerous scattered storage marks. Mechanically excellent. This is definitely a Lightning Rifle that will stand out from the pack in any Colt collection.
