There were two Christian Korbers that worked in Ingelfingen. One of them was a court gunmaker to the Prince zu Hohenlohe and the Duke of Wurttemberg. We previously sold a combination gun with a similar overall design by Korber in our September 2018 auction. The right lock is gold inlaid with "C. KORBER," and the left lock has "INGELFINGEN." Both locks have some light engraving. The blued octagon barrels have a silver blade front sight with silver "spider" base and silver inlaid scroll patterns surrounding "IM AUGUST/MEINEM TREUEN LINDENMEYER AUS INNIGER DANCKBARKEIT./1826" (roughly: In August 1826 to my faithful Lindenmeyer from Inniger with gratitude) also in silver. The stock has elaborate scroll pattern brass inlays, silver wire tendrils with leaf and acorn accents on the butt and top of the wrist, a blank silver wrist escutcheon, star inlay on the cheek piece, horn trigger guard extension, and silver pin accented checkering on the forend and wrist.

Fine with 60% of the fading original blue finish on the barrels, mix of aged and bright gold, aged patinas on the silver and brass, traces of case colors on the locks and otherwise gray patina, some minor oxidation, soldered front ramrod pipe, and general mild wear. The stock is also fine and has attractive figure, moderate small dents concentrated on the right side of the butt, mild wear on the checkering, and general light scratches and dings. The right cock is snapped at the neck, but the upper portion is included and could be professionally mended. The left lock is mechanically fine. This is a very attractive and desirable dated and presentation inscribed German shotgun.
