Manufactured by William James King of Birmingham around the 1820-1840s. Features a bayonet lug/front sight near the muzzle, Birmingham proofs at the breech, "W*J/KING" at the center of the lock, "WARRANTED" at the tail of the lock, brass furniture, a socket bayonet with scabbard, and nicely shaped walnut stock.

Exceptionally fine with mix of brown finish and patina on the lock and barrel, aged patina on the brass, distinct markings, and mild overall wear including some minor oxidation. The stock is very fine and has a few flaws in the wood itself such as a filled spot on the right side near the tow and a knot between the ramrod entry pipe and nose of the lock, a chip by the pan fence, and some light scrapes and dings. The bayonet and scabbard are very good and have moderate wear including oxidation and pitting on the blade and a damaged tip on the scabbard. Mechanically excellent. Overall, a very attractive late Brown Bess.
