With browned twist barrels each rifled with four wide grooves and raised rib signed “LONDON” with bead front sight and rear sight of one standing and one folding leaf, the side of the left barrel struck with Indian registration mark at the breech end and the underside of the barrels struck with Birmingham proof marks. Border engraved standing breech and side locks each with safety catch and signed “WESTLEY RICHARDS”, the remainder of the iron mounts including a hinged patch box cover are plain. Substantial walnut half stock with checkered grip, the underside of the butt with a sling eye with the corresponding sling mounted beneath the forward ramrod pipe, and brass mounted ramrod with worm.

The barrels have been expertly rebrowned with some scattered patches of corrosion marking throughout. The locks and mounts are discolored with some further scattered corrosion marking. The right lock will not hold on full cock. Stock has been refinished and is stained with possible burn marks, most noticeably around the patch box and forearm. There are numerous scratches and bruises to the stock throughout, the checkering is softened. Some cracks are present on the left side of the forearm around the wedge. The ramrod is a well made replacement of fairly recent manufacture. Mechanically very good. A rare large bore double percussion rifle from one of the most famous British gunmakers.
