MENTEL, CASSEL" in gold inlay, scope bases at the breech end of the rib, 2 1/2 inch chamber, single extractor, and full choke. Casehardened receiver with side clips, third cross bolt fastener, side safety, dual triggers (both are set triggers), tang mounted selector switch, and contoured horn trigger guard. The receiver and locks feature full coverage leafy scroll engraving and detailed game scenes of European stag on the right, and hunting dogs and boar on the left. Checkered walnut pistol grip stock and forearm with engraved fittings, raised cheekpiece, and serrated horn buttplate. With leatherette takedown case. Barrel and stock measurements are: bore diameter at 9 inches from breech .675; minimum wall thickness .021; drop at comb 1 1/4 inches; drop at heel 2 1/4 inches; length of pull 14 1/8 inches.

Rating Definition:

Fine as professionally restored with 99% of the high quality blue finish on the barrels, traces of light pitting under the blue, and some rounded edges. The receiver and locks have an overall gray patina with some darker spotting, and some loss of definition in the engraving. The restocked wood is also fine with sharp checkering, and some small dings. Mechanically excellent. Case is good with corner and edge wear, and handling marks throughout.
