Description:

The rifle is built on a Mauser 98 action and upgraded by John Rigby & Co. It is chambered in the .275 H.V. or .275 Rigby which was made popular by the Scottish born adventurer, pilot, and big game hunter, Captain Walter Dalrymple Maitland "Karamojo" Bell, who used the relatively small caliber to great effect on African big game. On elephants, the oblique shot through the rear of the skull became known as "The Bell Shot". The barrel is fitted with a ramped blade front sight and three-leaf rear sight with one standing leaf (100 yards) and two folding leaves (200 and 300 yards), and a forward sling swivel stud. The top of the barrel is marked "John Rigby & Co 13 Pall Mall. London. S.W.1." and there are British proofs on the right at the breech. The receiver ring is marked "RIGBY/.275 H.V." It is mounted with a checkered Monte Carlo pistol grip stock with a cheekpiece, rear sling swivel stud, and checkered bare butt. The left side of the receiver is fitted with a scope mount which holds the included Kahles Helia-Super 3-9x scope.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as upgraded by John Rigby & Co., retains 95% plus blue finish with some light wear on the muzzle, bolt, and bolt handle, and a small patch of grey patina on the rear of the action. The wood is also very fine with some scattered light dings and scratches and some light wear/more concentrated marks on the butt. Mechanically excellent. The optics are clear and the scope tube shows some mild wear from previous mounting.
