According to the information on pages 173-175 of "The Parker Story" by Gunther, Mullins, Parker, Price, and Cote, in 1988 John Allen the sales manager with the Paul Jaeger division of Dunn's in Grand Junction, Tennessee convinced Jack Skeuse (son of Tom Skeuse Sr.) to make a Parker Reproduction especially for use with steel shot. After this first steel shot optimized reproduction was reviewed, Allen then ordered approximately 350 more. The Steel Shot Special is distinguished from the standard Reproduction by its 3 inch chambers, 1 1/2 frame size, and the letters "SS" added to the standard serial number. Blue steel barrels with 3 inch chambers, automatic ejectors, standard markings, and improved cylinder/modified chokes. The case colored receiver is engraved with hunting dog and bird scenes of a pointer on the right, a setter on the left, and a grouping of pheasants on the underside. The balance features floral and scroll engraving. With single selective trigger and sliding tang safety. Checkered straight grip walnut stock and splinter forearm with engraved fittings, blank initial oval, and engraved skeleton buttplate with checkered bare butt. With leather Parker Reproduction takedown case and snap caps. Stock measurements are: drop at comb 1 1/4 inches; drop at heel 2 1/4 inches; length of pull 14 1/8 inches.

Excellent with 99% original blue finish, light handling marks, and a small hint of edge wear on the receiver fences. The wood is also excellent with sharp checkering and a few small dings. Mechanically excellent. Case is very good with some exterior scuffs and storage marks.
