Description:

This is an excellent example of a DWM Model 1902 Luger Carbine. There were approximately 2,500 manufactured for commercial sale in and out of Germany. These carbines are the most sought after of any of the pre-war Lugers and certainly would be the centerpiece of any advanced Luger collection. These carbines were the first attempts by the DWM factory to compete on the European market with a light weight rifle substitute. This model has the long 11 3/4 inch tapered barrel with a fixed front ramp sight, sliding 300 meter military tangent style adjustable rear sight, grip safety, checkered walnut Schnabel forearm and early style dished toggles with the recessed and milled flat breech block with the unmarked extractor. The barrel is marked with a "NP" proof and "7.65 m/m .850, 12 TONS" on the right side, as well as proof marks on the right side of the frame. The trigger, takedown lever, extractor, safety lever and magazine release are straw colored. It has matching serial numbers on all the parts to include the barrel, receiver, (frame extension) side plate, takedown lever, rear toggle assembly, and forearm, all, except the forearm, are highlighted in white. Serial numbers on barrel and frame extension read "23900", with repetition of the "00" on the take down lever, side plate and the rear of the toggle and "900" on the forearm and stock. The grips and wood base of the magazine are not numbered. "DWM" monogram on top of the toggle link. Magazine is tin-plated with wooden base. The stock is checkered on the wrist and marked with the serial number on the tang. Complete with sling swivels and a grooved black buttplate. Complete with a leather bound wooden case with brass corner protectors. The interior is green felt with compartments, which contain a nickel plated oiler, extra wood base magazine, cleaning rod and keys.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The pistol retains 98% blue finish remaining with minor scuffs on the barrel around the forearm and some minor finish loss around the barrel markings. Almost 90% of the straw colors remain with minor fading on the takedown lever and trigger. The grips are excellent with a few minor bruises, otherwise the checkering remains crisp. The stock is very fine with numerous minor bruises on the checkering and scattered minor dents and scratches. There is some minor chipping on the serrations on the buttplate. For the most part the checkering on the stock remains crisp. The carrying case is excellent with a few very minor scuffs. The handle has been professionally replaced and the original handle is in the case. The display case is also excellent with minor scattered dings.
