Description:

This is an example of a desirable DWM Model 1900 American Eagle commercial Luger pistol. These pistols were the true first commercial contract Luger pistols produced by DWM. These pistols were specifically intended for sales in the U.S. market, hence the use of the American Eagle symbol on top of the chamber area with the DWM markings on the front toggle. This pistol has all the early desirable Luger features, starting with the superb hand fitted parts with the beautiful pre-war high polish rust blued finish, the early long frame, dished toggles with toggle lock on the right side, recessed breechblock, 4 3/4 inch fast tapered barrel, grip safety, no stock lug, straw colored small components and bright polished lower safety area. It is correctly serial numbered in the commercial fashion with the serial number under the barrel and on the front of the frame, which is also marked "GERMANY". The magazine is the correct nickel with a wooden base and is un-numbered. Some of the small parts are marked with the partial serial number "83". The pistol is fitted with checkered walnut grips. The inside of each grip panel is lightly stamped with the two digit number that appears to be "83".

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The pistol retains 95% original blue finish with some muzzle and high edge wear and some thinning to a smooth brown and gray patina on the grip straps, along with some cold blue on the muzzle. The small components have a smooth gray patina. The grips are excellent with a couple of tiny dings in the otherwise sharp checkering. The markings are clear and crisp. Mechanically excellent.
