The pistol has the late war style two-tone finish with the slide, frame, and small parts being a gray phosphate and the barrel is blued. Blade front and fixed notch rear sights, standard markings and "44" date code on the left side of the slide, firing proof and "eagle/WaA135" acceptance marks on the right, matching serial numbers on the slide, frame, and barrel lug with a single "eagle/WaA135" stamp on the left side of the frame, serrated spur hammer, and decocking safety. With serrated grips with lanyard loop, and full blue magazine marked "P.38." on the left side. With brown leather Gebruder Klinge holster marked "gxy 1941" and P38 on the back, and extra magazine.

Very fine with 90% original slightly faded gray phosphate on the frame and slide, areas of minor edge wear, surface scratches, and handling marks. The barrel has 95% original blue finish with a slight plum coloration, and muzzle wear. Grips are also very fine with some dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent. Holster is about good with numerous scuffs and scrapes on the exterior, cracking on the closure strap, mostly tight stitching, and generally solid construction.

The included AG USFET Form No. 33 dated September 19, 1945 lists a pistol as "1- P-38- German-Automatic" with no serial number given as the property of one "James G. Bernie" with no rank, number, or unit listed. Standard markings and "44" date code on the left side of the slide, firing proof and "eagle/WaA135" acceptance marks on the right, Spreewerke "cyq" coded barrel numbered "8810/f" on the lug and "810/f" on the locking block, serrated spur hammer, and decocking safety. With serrated grip with lanyard loop and full blue magazine marked "P.38v/U" on the left side. With "P.38" marked leather holster.

Very fine with as mentioned replacement barrel, 85% original blue finish, areas of edge wear, small scratches, and handling marks overall. The grips are fine with some sharp dings, and the screw escutcheon absent the right panel (replaced with a hex nut). Mechanically excellent. Holster is fair with an overall worn appearance, surface cracking and scuffs, and overall solid construction.
