Manufactured by the firm of Josef Winkler in Ferlach, Austria and then marked "M. KRUSCHITZ-FERLACH-WIEN" by the seller. Blued Bohler steel barrels with dual white bead sights, chambers marked and measured at 2 3/4 inches with automatic ejectors, chokes measured at modified/full, double Kersten third fastener, post-WWII Austrian nitro proofs on the chamber, "49" proof date, and the matching serial number "42/219" on the bottom barrel. The "42" serial number prefix is the Austrian maker's code for Winkler. Satin gray, coin finished Blitz action with added side plates, bushed firing pins, matching proof number and date code, "JOSEF WINKLER/FERLACH" maker's mark on the breech face, dual triggers, and automatic sliding tang safety. The receiver has full coverage, finely executed leafy scroll engraving and the side plates feature relief chiseled game scenes of ducks in a marsh on the right and a pair of rabbits in a forest scene on the left. The trigger plate and guard are engraved to match. Highly figured walnut checkered pistol grip stock and three-piece forearm with engraved fittings, blank gold inscription plate on the grip cap, raised cheekpiece, and solid rubber Old English recoil pad. With Americase aluminum takedown case. Barrel and stock measurements are: bore diameter at 9 inches from breech .718/.719; minimum wall thickness.033/.022 ; choke constriction .021/.032; drop at comb 1 3/8 inches; drop at heel 2 1/16 inches; length of pull 14 5/8 inches.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 99% blue finish on the barrels and some light forearm marks. The receiver and plates have an attractive gray finish with sharp, detailed engraving, and some light handling marks. The forearm slab screws are not properly indexed and several of the heads sit proud to the wood, otherwise the upgraded wood is very fine with attractive mineral lines, crisp checkering, some scattered small dings, and added pad. Mechanically excellent. Case is very good with some exterior dings and storage marks.
