Description:

Manufactured in 1913, the second year of production. The end result of about a decade of feedback from the United States military to arms legend John M. Browning, the Government Model defined the full-size automatic pistol for most of the 20th century and stands to this day as a go-to option for sporting, competitive and self-defense shooters. Fixed sights, with the two-line, two-block address and patent markings on the left side of the slide with the Rampant Colt behind the serrations, and "COLT AUTOMATIC/CALIBRE 45" below the ejection port. Marked "GOVERNMENT MODEL" ahead of the serial number on the right side of the frame, with the "VP" Verified Proof and "K" inspection mark on the left side of the trigger guard. Fitted with a round top rear sight, wide knurled hammer, long trigger, short grip safety, smooth flat mainspring housing checkered grips with diamond flats and an unmarked later production replacement two tone pinned base magazine. The barrel is blued, with "5" stamped ahead of the lug and "C" on the hood.

Rating Definition:

Fine, showing 80% bright original high polish blue on the frame, with a mixed brown and gray patina on the grip straps, mild spotting and scratches concentrated in the same area, and some mild edge wear and handling marks overall. The slide retains 98% of the matching refinished high polish blue with light pitting visible under the blue. The small components show over 75% of the fiery niter blue finish, and the fine grips show some mild dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
