Description:

Manufactured in 1896. The Lee-Enfield rifle was an evolution of the earlier Lee-Metford military rifle, marking the British Army's transition to smokeless powder, and setting the basic form of Britain's military rifles and carbines for the first half of the 20th century. Blade front and "SUTHERLAND" marked windage adjustable ladder rear sight, with the Victoria cipher on the right side of the socket over the manufacturer's mark, date and model. The chamber is marked "E", denoting the Enfield rifling, with a dust cover and magazine cutoff. A set of volley sights are installed on the left side of the stock and receiver, with the right side of the stock bearing a BSA mark, "M&D" and "I/1" on the right side, provision for a (not included) cleaning rod, and a brass buttplate marked "30/107". With an "8 '96" marked bayonet and a leather sheath.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, with 80% plus of the original blue finish, showing areas of brown patina, mild spotting and minor handling marks. The stock is good, with some scuffing and dents. The bayonet is very good, with fine blade, mild spotting, a mixed patina on the hilt, and cracking and flaking of the leather. Mechanically excellent.
