Description:

Among the first functional commercial semi-automatic pistols, the 1893 Borchardt introduced many of the key mechanical features that would underpin the signature Luger pistol through its entire production run. Fixed sights, with "SYSTEM BORCHARDT. PATENT./DEUTSCHE WAFFEN-UND MUNITIONSFABRIKEN,/BERLIN." on the right side of the receiver, with the top of the toggle mechanism carrying the German patent markings of "D.R.P./No. 75837". The left side of the breechblock, toggle mechanism and receiver all have the early German "Imperial crown" commercial proofs, with the left rear section of the barrel also marked "172,28". Fine straw and niter blue finish is present on the small parts, with a set of smooth bordered checkered grips and a nickel finished magazine with an unmarked hardwood base.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as professionally restored, with 98% plus fine blue finish, showing some light spotting and handling marks overall. The straw parts are darkly finished, with a few hints of brown on the niter blued parts. The grips and base are fine with scattered scratches and dings. Mechanically excellent.
