Description:

Manufactured circa 1899, and marked for sale via Von Lengerke & Detmold, one of the largest outfitting/sporting goods businesses in New York, and an important early importer for the Broomhandle Pistol. Features blade front and "1-10" marked tangent rear sights, the Mauser address on top of the chamber, a small "antler" stamp on the chamber opposite a "crown/crown/U" proof, "VON LENGERKE/& DETMOLD/NEW-YORK" on the left side of the flatside frame, a short niter blue safety, and matching numbered serrated grips. Includes a hardwood shoulder stock fitted with matching numbered attaching iron (first and last numbers are faint but visible).

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retains 85% plus original blue finish with the balance thinned to a smooth grey patina mainly on the grip straps and edges/high points. There is some mild moisture related staining throughout creating color variance in the blue finish. The exposed portion of the bolt stop is partially broken off. The hammer does not hold at full cock, otherwise functions, but requires work to be performed. The stock is very good with a few hairline cracks, some minor dings and scratches scattered throughout, and some light pitting on the iron nearly obscuring a couple of the numbers.
