Manufactured in 1896 with the highly desirable casehardened receiver that was standard on only approximately the first 112,000 Model 1890 rifles. The barrel is fitted with combination front, notch rear, and tang mounted peep sights, and has standard markings. The upper tang has the three-line model designation/patent marking and the serial number is on the lower tang. Mounted with a twelve-groove slide handle and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate.

Exceptionally fine, retains 90% original blue finish with some light edge and cycling wear and 85% original fiery case colors with a few areas faded to a smooth grey patina. The wood is excellent with a few very scattered light handling marks and only the slightest flaws in the varnish. Mechanically excellent. An exceptionally high condition Model 1890 that could be the centerpiece of most Winchester slide action collections.
