Description:

This is an extremely scarce example of a late production Baby Nambu pistol that was manufactured by the Tokyo Gas and Electric (TG&E) factory in Tokyo with all matching numbers to include two original magazines. These TG&E Baby Nambu pistols are rare in that they were produced in very limited numbers and are high sought by the Japanese collectors. The Baby Nambu was never officially approved as a standard officer's sidearm; instead, they were privately purchased by high ranking Japanese Army and Naval officers. The chamber area is stamped with the circled "TG&E" proof, and the Kanji makings are on the right side of the upper receiver over the serial number "5969". The matching serial number "5969" is also visible on the underside of the bolt, the cocking knob, the complete firing pin/striker assembly and the back side of the left grip panel, the right side is unnumbered (but it matches perfectly). The magazines have nickel-plated bodies with an extruded aluminum base that are numbered "5969 and 5969." These rare little pistols have a high quality rust blue finish with straw colored small parts and the bolt retaining an overall bright finish. The grips are finely checkered hardwood. These pistols were produced from 1909 to approximately 1923, and it is estimated that only about 550 pistols were ever produced by TG&E; Reportedly, fifty are known to date.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 85% plus of the original blue finish overall with edge wear, minor light, pin prick pitting on the right side above the markings and on the left side recoil spring housing and on the underside of the muzzle area. The smaller parts retain 40% of their straw colors overall. The varnished grips are very fine with fine distinct checkering on both sides with only a couple of very minor handling marks.
