This is a early production No Series Type 99 Sniper Rifle manufactured by the Nagoya Arsenal, that is complete with an original 4X sniper scope and hard canvas scope case. The top of the receiver is marked with the Kanji markings for Type 99 rifle with its Chrysanthemum intact, which has only been struck twice (not ground). The rear receiver is marked with the Nagoya Arsenal symbol over the serial number (3051). It still retains its early style rear sight graduated 3-15 (300-1500 meters) with the folding anti-aircraft wings, peep rear aperture and inverted "V" front sight with guards. The rifle has its matching numbered complete bolt assembly, original stamped barrel bands with the front band correctly matching numbered to the rifle, with the rear barrel band having no provisions for a monopod. It has its original early hardwood stock and handguard set. The rifle is equipped with an original 4 power scope that is marked on the objective end of the scope tube with, "4 X 7/five pointed star/No. 7001". The rear locking plate is stamped with serial number "4363" and it is fitted with an original rubber eye-piece. Includes an original late model square hard canvas covered scope case with its shoulder strap. Non-matching sliding dust cover and cleaning rod.

Fine with 80% of its faded original blue finish overall showing light thinning on the edges and high spots overall with thinning on the floorplate and trigger guard. The revarnished stock and handguards are in very good condition showing only minor handling marks and light pressure dents overall. The scope retains 95% of its original black painted type finish with clear sharp markings. It has very clear, sharp optics with an intact range-finding reticle. The canvas scope case is in good condition showing wear on all the outside surfaces with intact stitching. A solid representative example of a desirable WWII Japanese Type 99 sniper rifle.
