This revolver was manufactured in Belgium based on the popular Webley British Bulldog pattern, has ornate scroll engraving, and is inscribed "LIDDLE KAEDING/SAN FRANCISO" on the top strap on either side of the sight groove. Liddle & Kaeding first began when Robert Liddle and Charles van Buren Kaeding purchased the Bogart Brothers Sportsmen's Emporium in 1859. The firm was initially known as R. Liddle & Co., but became Liddle & Kaeding in 1866 when Kaeding became a full partner. They were the largest firearms dealers in the Bay Area in the 1870s and became Liddle & Co. in 1889 providing a rough date range for this revolver. It has matching serial numbers on the back of the cylinder, underside of the grips, and the grip frame at the toe. Included with the revolver is a January 14, 1986, dated Mexican federal registration card identifying a "REVOLVER" in .44 caliber marked "LIDDLE KAEDING" as registered to "LOPEZ PORTILLO P. JOSE." Jose Guillermo Abel Lopez Portillo y Pacheco was the 51st President of Mexico from 1976 to 1982.

Very good with thin original blue finish on the cylinder, traces of original finish in some protected areas, and otherwise smooth gray and brown patina, crisp markings and checkering, and general minor wear. The grips are also very good and have attractive natural tones and grain, some small chips at the edges, and a few minor age cracks. Mechanically fine.
