Description:

The included factory letter confirms the current finish, barrel length, and caliber when it was shipped to Shapleigh Hardware Company of St. Louis, MO, for the Butte Stove Repair Company on May 19, 1926. The included pair of affidavits from Mrs. Olive Sarsfield and Mr. Hayes Otoupalik declare the revolver, badge, and holster rig belonged to U.S. Marshal Deputy Ned S. Goza and were carried by him during the fulfillment of his duties. Goza was appointed as a Deputy Marshal on May 9, 1932 per the included appointment document. The "Register of the Department of Justice and Courts of the United States Vol. 30" lists Goza as stationed at Butte, Montana reporting to U.S. Marshal Sid A. Willis whom was stationed at Helena, Montana. The revolver shows the standard barrel address and two-line patent marking. The original rubber grips have been exchanged for a pair of Roper style walnut grips. The aforementioned holster rig is nicely tooled and bears a Heiser trademark and is currently holding 20 cartridges of .38 Colt. The badge reads "HELENA/MARSHAL/MONTANA". Also included in the lot is a dossier of information surrounding this set.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retaining 70% original blue and 75% original muted case colors. There are a few areas of scattered spotting and significant finish loss along the left side due to holster wear. The slightly oversized replacement grips are also very fine. The holster rig is very fine with light use/storage evidence, the badge is very fine with some light tarnishing, and the appointment document is fine with a few small tears but is fully legible. Mechanically excellent.
