Manufactured in 1881 with the standard markings including "COLT D.A. 41" in an acid etched panel on the left of the barrel and steer head carved pearl grip. Includes a Furstnow & Coggshall leather gunbelt and holster that is also marked "38" on the belt strap, with the holster faintly initialed on the back with what appears to be "S&B" and the cartridge loops of the belt containing 26 .41 Long Colt cartridges.
Fine, retains 70% original nickel plating and 40% original nitre blue on the rear of the hammer with the balance a mixture of brown and grey patinas. The etched panel is distinct. The grips are very fine with a few hairline age stress lines, some light handling marks, and crisp carving. The hammer does not hold at full cock in single action, otherwise functions fine in double action. The gunbelt and holster are fine with moderate wear and some age related cracking.
