Manufactured in 1904 with standard markings and features including matching serial numbers. The accompanying factory letter lists this SAA with a 4 3/4 inch barrel in .41 caliber, blue finish and type of stocks not listed when sold to R.K. Carter & Co. and shipped to A.M. Holter hardware Co. of Helena, Montana, on March 8, 1904. This was a three gun shipment. Only 16,402 were manufactured in this caliber compared to 150,683 in .45 Colt and 64,389 in .44-40 W.C.F. Montana pioneer Anton Martinius Holter (1831-1921) arrived in the United States in 1854 from his native country of Norway, made his fortune in Montana lumber, farming, real estate and hardware and served on Montana's first territorial council and first legislature and Helena's first school board. A.M. Holter Hardware Co. opened circa 1886 and closed its doors in 1958. Several Montana institutions and landmarks are named in his honor.

Rating Definition:

Very good, retains 20% of the original blue finish and case colors in sheltered areas with the balance mostly a smooth grey patina and some scattered patches of light pitting. The grips are also good with heavy even wear visible overall. Mechanically excellent.
