Description:

The Model 1862 Police would have been a very desirable private purchase sidearm for a soldier fighting on either side during the Civil War as they were nearly as compact as the popular Model 1849 Pocket but offered more stopping power. This example was manufactured in 1863, at the height of the war, with standard markings and features, including all matching visible numbers.

Rating Definition:

Fine, retains 75% original blue finish on the barrel, 85% plus original case colors, and 30% original silver plating with the balance a smooth brown patina and an attractive antique patina on the brass. There is some artificial brown visible on half of the cylinder with the balance 40% bright original blue. The grip is very fine with some scattered light dings and scratches, and it retains most of the varnish apart from some mild flaking on the butt. Mechanically excellent.
